About Me

Got a question that went unjustly answered? Feel free to ask it in my Guestbook, or send me an e-mail.

Q: What should we call you?

A: Ana. Ana Ng if you want to be formal (wink). It's a reference to one of my favourite They Might Be Giants song, named and 'about' Ana Ng. I don't want the world... I just want your half!

Q: Likes and dislikes?

A: My family and friends! Spider-Man; my favourite character is Dmitri Smerdyakov, the Chameleon. Cats. Birds. Music, my favourite bands are Cocteau Twins and Mommy Long Legs. Fashion, especially gothic. Mime make-up. Scrapbooking. Baking. Reading. Libraries. Charity shops. Porcelain things, especially angels. Window shopping. Moments where I can talk freely. Other people's collections. Horror movies. Silly socks. Novelty items. Cartoons. Busy days. The number two. Strawberry & blue raspberry flavoured sweets. Water. My hair, hehe.

A: Loud noises, especially unexpected ones that make me jump. Small text on websites. Losing things that should've been in an exact spot. Getting really shaky from anxiety. Doing things in front of people. Paying for things at the till (9/10 times something goes wrong). Throwing things away. Gwen always being Ghost-Spider in adaptations now. (YFNSM I TRUSTED YOU...)

Q: How would you describe yourself?

A: 'Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)', Walt Whitman.

A: It is difficult to describe oneself, because how do you fit an entire person and history that you know deeply into a few sentences? Then, there is the trouble that you are only aware of what you are aware of. This is why I love hearing people's thoughts on me (aside from soothing my insecurity). They're an outsiders perspective, yet still biased through their own unique consciousness and view. Thus, we can only ever see ourselves through a kaleidoscope: reflected surfaces that collide to show a beautiful image.

A: To gain the full image, you can of course browse around this site. But for the sake of answering the question, here's an attempt to show a surface of myself... When I'm not being possessed by anxiety, I'm a ditzy girl who smiles and laughs easily. I try to be thoughtful and empathetic, which makes me good with my niece and nephew. I worry I don't think or feel as deeply as everyone else seems to, I just simulate doing so. I get worried when I think I'm in a situation where I'll be outed as an idiot, and have a fear of making mistakes. I'm working on it!!

A: When I'm out I am the worst person alive. Hyperbole, of course, but it sure feels like it. Everyone has conflicting behaviour and thoughts, but mine is so notable to me due to my selective mutism. I like talking, I love being around people — yet my brain is instinctively terrified of it. I hate everyone and everything when I'm like that, and then I hate myself for thinking and acting like that. I'm working on it!!!

Q: How do other people describe you?

tweet reading 'all girls want is for you to describe them'

A: I've been called weird and fruity, and have been described as 'dressing kind of kooky' and 'talking like she's singing'. My friend when asked described me as easy to talk to, non-judgemental, possessing a great humour and an awesome friend. Isn't she so sweet to me? :,)

A: To be fair, here is one statement from a teacher who liked me, and one from a teacher who disliked me: 'I think you are an intelligent, interesting and sincere person Ana!' ; 'Ana is a very quiet member of the class. She participates in some aspects of the class but is easily influenced by others.'

A: strawberry-transneu: 'COOL AS FUCK' & 'really cool small personal website :)'

About the Site

Q: Why 'spookysix'?

A: The Sinister Six are a team of Spider-Man villains that first featured in Amazing Spider-Man's first annual. Since then, this team has been re-assembled many times with many different members across many different adaptation... and I love them all! I know it's not exactly how it is in practice, but the idea of some assholes becoming friends over Wanting To Fucking Kill You is funny and very Parker.

A: Spidey villains have been my favourite part of any Spider-Man media since the beginning. One of the first Spider-Man comic series I read was The Superior Foes of Spider-Man, which was about a Sinister Six which actually only had 5 members, none of them being the original members.

A: As for the spooky part... um, I have no clue? 'sinistersix' doesn't seem to be taken even now, so I'm not sure why I didn't choose it. Whimsy!

Q: When was this site made?

A: For a simple answer: March 13th, 2023.

A: For a more detailed answer... you'd have to wait, because I haven't been bothered to write it yet!

Q: Any reason for the minamilism?

A: When I began, I was so focused on making the page designs right while barely knowning CSS, that I didn't get what I actually wanted out: content. So now I focus on getting the words out first and then prettifying it later, if I want to.

Q: What's with the quote on the index?

'to die-- one must have lived! and i... i have never lived! how could i have? i have no name! no face! no soul! i... am a nothing! a nothing!'

A: That quote is said by Dmitri in Amazing Spider-Man #389, and reading it was the first time I truly resonated with a character's despair. Characters are often passionate, active, something. How can I relate to characters so alive when I have never lived? I had no experiences; my bad memory made me forget most things, and my inability to exist around others made it so I didn't go outside often. Most of my life has been spent sleeping or sitting inactive.

A: However, Dmitri is something: he's alive! Thus, he still has the continued possibility to live. It's a reminder for me.
